Football

Football is a team sport that takes place between two teams of 11 players each. Football plays 250 million players in more than 200 countries around the world, so it is the most popular sport in the world. Football is played on a rectangular court with two pitches on either side. The goal of the game is to score the goals by kicking the ball into the goal.

Original label:
England's football laws were introduced in 1863 and the name "Union Football" was used to distinguish the game from the other football matches of the time, especially rugby. The term "Soccer" appeared in England and was first introduced in the 1880s, abbreviated to the word "union" in English. In the English speaking world, football is used in the UK, while Soccer is used in the United States and Canada. In other countries, such as Australia and New Zealand, one or both terms may be used.

There are two kinds of football games documented historically in Europe: Episcus, of ancient Greece and Harbastum, which appeared during the Roman period. Both games are like soccer, which people gather on and are unregistered, and play football by hand rather than by kicking. There are many old competitions that are about kicking a ball in a few countries, such as the Tsugu in China. There are also similar but non-competitive games like the Kumari in Japan and the Wugabaliri in Australia. Modern football rules rely on efforts made in the mid-19th century to unify the different types of football played in the local schools of England. The history of football in England dates back at least to the eighth century.
The laws of Cambridge, developed in 1848 at the University of Cambridge, had a significant impact on the development of symbols for the game of football. The laws of Cambridge were written at Trinity College from the above-mentioned university during a meeting between delegates from Eaton College, Harrow School, Rugby School, Winchester School and Shrewsbury School. However, these laws did not adopt a university. During the 1850s, many non-school or university clubs were formed throughout the English-speaking world to entertain members by playing different forms of football. Some of these clubs devised their own rules of the game, notably the Sheffield Football Club,  which eventually became part of the Sheffield and Hammershire Football Association in 1867. In 1862, Charles Charles Thuring founded a set of influential laws in the Bingham School.
