In 1507, German cartographer Martin Valdismoller drew a map of the world where the Western Hemisphere was erected by America's explorer and cartographer Americo Bespoke. The former British colonies were the first to use the modern name in the Declaration of Independence, the Collective Declaration of the 13 United States of America, adopted by the representatives of the United States of America on 4 July 1776. This name was finalized on 15 November 1777, the Union. Article 1 states that "the name must be" United States of America. "The United States has also adopted the short version, in addition to other forms such as the United States of America, the United States of America and America, as well as some colloquial terms such as the United States. The name Colombia, a famous name for the United States, is derived from the name of Christopher Columbus, whose name appears in "District of Columbia".
American citizens are referred to as Americans. Although the term "United States" is official, the terms "American" and "United States" are the most commonly used characters to refer to this country. American is rarely used in English to refer to non-Americans.
The term "United States" is treated as a group, including the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which was ratified in 1865. This term can be considered an individual after the end of the civil war. Thus, the term "singular" is used singularly. The combination is used only in: "this United States" means the United States.
